Meet DeWania Wilson of Diva-licious Cupcake Boutique
My passion for designing started as a young girl. I was always in fashion shows and trying to recreate all the outfits I had, more bling the merrier. From 2002 to 2008, my mother and I began decorating and staging homes, we got so good at it that more people would book us for random events. Random events turned into us becoming wedding coordinators. I figured if I can decorate a home and do weddings, I can take a chance at baking and decorating beautiful cakes.One day I decided to take the Wilton’s cake decorating class in 2007 at my local Michael’s . I feel so in love with the art and hobby, that I would just get lost in it. I began watching YouTube and other cooking shows to get more familiar with different techniques on how to construct a cake properly successfully. As I start progressing, I start baking for family and friends for parties and holiday functions. Everyone was in love with my decor and the flavor of my cakes I became an instant hit. My life as a hobby baker became an instant reality when I started my own business in 2008. I am who I am today because I had a dream and I believed. I give all honor to God and all my biggest supporters.
Throughout this journey, I have had struggles with myself but quickly gained my confidence back as I started to gain more faith. I never thought that I would make it this far as a business owner. I thought baking would be just a hobby…now it’s my passion. I am thankful to God that I moved passed all the adversities and challenges, blessings from here on out. I take nothing for my journey. I will not complain, I’m grateful and appreciative. Always believe in yourself and keep it moving no matter the situation!
We are best known for our creative designs and special touch on each and every order. I take pride in making my customers feel happy and special while I personalize each and every cake or treat their expectations. We offer multiple cake flavors, sheet cakes, tiered cakes, and all types of other sweet treats for any occasion such as cake pops. Chocolate covered Oreo’s, strawberries, pretzels, candy apples and assorted pies. The kids really love our Ice cream drip cakes, donut cakes, superhero themed and unicorn cakes. We also donate to the church and provide giveaways to the people that can not afford a birthday party for their children. Bringing smiles to the families gives us great joy and so grateful to be able to serve our community. We pride ourselves in customer service and making sure that every customer gets treated with respect and care. We are definitely in a league of our own. It is all in the name… Diva meets Delicious!
I feel I have completed so many accomplishments with my business. I have paid off old debt and purchased big ticket items to make my business more successful. I believe with God’s help, I have set my goals and accomplished them as a self made .business owner. Now my focus is to teach and mentor others that have the same passion and would like to become business owners as I once did. To me, that is what make makes a success story when you have accomplished your goals and turn around and help someone else with theirs.
