Meet Mychal-Bella of MBI Management
I started modeling/acting/philanthropy at the tender age of 2 for an educational international print campaign that advocates for literacy, which lead me to my first national commercial for Disney.
Now, this was a kid’s ultimate dream… Disney! And from that the rest was history! My mom closed her business of 25 years and moved to LA & two weeks in I was auditioning and two months later I booked three paramount gigs in one week… Barbie Moschino commercial, UGG print campaign, & theatrical HBO role on the hit show “Togetherness!” This was the catalyst of my 5 years old Greatness with my claim to fame being my latest Oscar-winning Brad Pitt/Barry Jenkins Amazon television series “Underground Railroad,” where I play the lead character Grace.
Despite my 9 years of age, philanthropy is dear to my heart. My mom has always prioritized the importance of humanity & giving back. Whether it’s hosting, serving, or just advocating for matters such as bullying, homelessness, & kid’s disorders ie: autism… you can find me at large in the community.
As an industry kid, I pride myself on staying grounded & keeping education primal. I began reading at the age of 3 & since then has skipped two grade levels of learning. Beauty and brains is a household rule …academics is priority because there is life after the industry as my mom would say.
As a kid, if your parents have not instilled self-confidence, the rejection/competition that comes along with the Hollywood industry can be self-inflicting & demeaning mentally. You can’t take it personally & have to know that just because you did not book that job doesn’t mean that you are not qualified. It just may not have been a fit. In that respect, we have to know the trends and understand the esthetics associated with television and who it’s audience appeal is geared toward. Ultimately, the goal is to book the room for feature projects & leave a lasting impression.
Other struggles can be comparisons or being careful of stage moms. My mom communicates to me the importance of being aware of these challenges and make sure that I am focus on my “wins” & not my temporal losses. She also makes sure I know what‘s really important… which is to have fun, master your craft, do your best, & tell them you’ll see them later. May not book this one but I will see them later.
Actor/Super Model/Philanthropist
My specialty is drama, which is rare for a mere 9 year old who is usually pigeonholed into Disney type characters. One of my gifts that sets me apart is that I can cry real tears. I mastered that technique early on.
Another asset that sets me apart is that I am a social butterfly & take direction very well. Most kids my age haven’t mastered that. My mom tells me it’s a time to play and a time to shine! I think I have solidified a work ethic that speaks volumes & sets me apart.
Success to me comes in levels… it’s about growth & seeing your short term/long term goals being made in a timely manner. Each year me and my mom set goals & check them off …those that don’t get accomplished are benchmark/regrouped with additional strategizing put in place. Moreover, having a solid team is successful. Those that are in it for the long haul… no clout chaser. The ultimate goal is to “WIN” & that entails a few losses but it’s what you do with those losses. That how I coin SUCCESS.
