Meet Calisha & Nakiethie Tunwar & Jones of Basic Attire Everyday
We are blood sisters that have always had fashion and entrepreneurship within our family history. From running around through clothing racks in our grandmother store to drawing personal designs in school years, including designing my senior prom dress. I (Calisha Tunwar) obtained a certificate in Visual Merchandising with an Associate’s in Fashion Marketing. Most importantly our kids set us on the path. Being able to start a company with each other shows our kids that siblings have a special bond and family is always first.
Some of the struggles we have had to overcome is finding quality shirts and vinyl at a reasonable price. There are a lot of brands to choose from after trial and error with many washes. We finally found comfortable, lightweight, soft cotton blend shirts. It becomes a struggle sometimes to combine two completely different personalities. One of the struggles we are in the process of overcoming is getting out of our comfort zone and learning to network.
We create custom vinyl t-shirts from onesies to adult sizes for all occasions. We are redefining the word basic providing our customers with everyday attire that is an essential piece. Our shirts allow customers to express themselves with confidence and comfort while being fashionable. The company relates to the common student in college or the mother who doesn’t have enough time to focus on a piece by piece outfit. As a company, we are most proud when customers talk about great customer service with good quality material and prices. Including the turnaround time for our shirts.
We define success as having the freedom to express ourselves while providing our customers with fashional confidence and quality product. As they redefine their basic attire every day with our essential piece while accomplishing goals and growing our business over time.
