I grew up in Quetzaltenango, the second city of Guatemala. I started in music as a self-taught guitarist when I was about 16 years old and eventually interest in film scoring grew in me while I was in college studying Communication Sciences and it became a dream. Finally 3 years ago, with a university degree and 27 years on me I decided to follow my dream and moved to Hollywood to study film scoring at Musicians Institute. I stayed and now I work as a composer and sound editor in the South Californian film, tv, gaming scene.

My full name is Sandra Martínez Aguirre. I started my musical quest from Madrid, Spain. I was born and raised there. I’ve been always very artistic and in my early years I realized that by being a Musician and specially a vocalist, I could communicate and convey my stories.
In addition, I was really involved in being in front of the camera.
Acting was also one of my passions and music totally supported it by giving me the push I needed to utilize all of my talents.
After a finished High School, I decided to move to the U.S. and master my craft in Los Angeles.

Even when I was little, acting was my passion. I used to put on little plays, give out tickets, and make my parents and friends watch me perform. But as I got older, as much as I wanted to entertain people, “reality” set in and I gave up my dream being in front of the camera. I still wanted to be part of the world I loved though, so I opted to find other avenues to feel connected to the industry and ultimately earned a BFA in film/drama with a focus in film production from Syracuse University. When I graduated college, I tried many different types of “behind the scenes” jobs to break into entertainment. However, with each opportunity I felt less and less fulfilled and after three years, I finally left the business all together and decided to go back to school to become a teacher (which was another dream of mine). I taught middle school for 15 years and for 10 of them I also taught drama. In some ways, I felt I was still part of the industry, I was just teaching others to act instead of doing it myself. After a while, my students began asking me practical questions: What is is like to be on a big set? What is it like to be on a large stage? How can I be on television? But because I never had an opportunity to do it myself, I didn’t have any answers for them. Then one day I decided it was my time. No more excuses, no more second guessing, I needed to go out there and at least try or I would regret it forever. I joined a local theater group, I worked background on some TV shows in NYC, I started to act in short films, I was in commercials, and I even started taking acting classes myself. Immersing myself in this world made me realize that there were roles for all types of people and it WAS possible for me to be in front of the camera, rather than behind. That next school year, I was no longer teaching drama, I was actually performing myself. In the short time that I have been living my dream, I have won two awards for acting (Best Actress in a Dramatic Role and Best Supporting Actress in a Short Drama), something I NEVER believed would happen.

My love for beauty began while in high school when I would create my own beauty products such as facial masks, face scrubs and waxes as I was very hairy. I remember staying up all night as I created these products. During my years in high school, there was an esthetician program which I could apply to get my license by the time I graduated as I had a desire to open up my own salon one day. After High School, I enrolled in a degree program at the University of Arizona where I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Business with an Accounting focus. It was during this time that I truly began to love waxing and how it would boost the self-confidence of people when I helped them with their skin. I found my niche in helping people with in-grown bumps which made them move from feeling insecure to confident. After university, I worked in the corporate world as I provided waxing services on the side. In 2015, this love for providing these services to people moved me to leave the corporate world and enter into skincare full-time. I then moved to California in 2016 and then finally opened up 3BWaxing in 2017. I worked for other salons for some time and soon decided that it was time to take the leap of faith and begin my own business. This would help me to have more flexibility instead of being confined to the protocols of another company. I wanted that sense of autonomy to be able to vacation whenever I desired as well. This leap of faith would also give me the privilege of being invested in my clients’ journey which would give me a greater chance to help them experience the best results.

I started when I was just 8 years old doing professional local and regional musical theater in my hometown of Denver, Colorado. I had always been obsessed with singing and being on a stage was my safe place away from the community and peers with whom I never fit in. During that time, I performed in over a dozen productions and appeared in several national commercials for Ford, McDonald’s, and more. When it came time for college, I received a scholarship from Berklee College of Music for Songwriting (among others), but decided to move to LA instead. I was 18 years old and I didn’t know a single person there.

After sometime of working multiple jobs and just trying to make ends meet, I decided to join an acting class. That class lead to getting a manger which lead to getting an agent. Within the first year of having representation I was cast as a series regular on NBC’s “Days Of Our Lives.” I went onto appear on series such as “Mad Men,” and “Ugly Betty.” Most people recognize me from my starring role as “Marina” on Nickelodeon’s hit music series, “The Fresh Beat Band.”

Music was always my first love, and even though I had a lot of success as an actress, music was always brewing in the background. By the time I left Fresh Beats, I decided to form a production company where I sold multiple TV pilots to the likes of Nickelodeon and Disney, and started producing music. In 2015, I formed my own music development company, Matriarch, and received my first Billboard #1 Gold Record for songwriting on Disney’s “Descendants 2” soundtrack. Now, I am both developing and writing for other artists, as well as releasing my own new music.

I was a little girl with a big dream, after watching Whitney Houston sing “I Will Always Love You” on TV. I then started writing songs as soon as I could! I didn’t know that I could turn those songs into records until I accidentally met a young producer in LA on vacation when I was a teenager. We worked back and forth from Mississauga and LA via the internet for the next seven years. I was honing my songwriting and recording skills at that time. Until I realized I knew nothing about the business of music, which is when I decided to enroll into Metalworks Institute for the Entertainment Business Management program! After graduating, I decided I wanted to be an artist, as well as a songwriter and then went for it. It has been a lot of hard work, education, perfecting my skills and gaining resilience.

I am a minister, author and a filmmaker. I love to encourage and inspire others, specifically adults, reminding them that it is never too late and you are never too old to LIVE ON PURPOSE. I am a living witness. I obtained a degree in accounting and worked in various areas in the accounting field. I started off as an auditor with a top public accounting firm. I spent some time in banking, worked for the U.S. Government and even a radio station. I actually never planned on staying in the field of accounting, but every time I wanted to make a change I just ended up taking another position in the field. I actually took acting classes when I was in my twenties. I even had the opportunity to get paid as an extra in a Nike commercial which was directed by none other than Spike Lee. Eventually I decided that it was too much work to try to get into entertainment and accounting paid the bills.
It wasn’t until the year 2010 that my life changed forever. At the age of forty-three I was called into ministry and ordained Minister Aretha Tatum. I went on to publish my first book in 2014 at forty-seven and in 2017 completed my first short film which I was blessed to write, direct and produce at the age of fifty. I realized that media arts and entertainment is the area that God wants to use me in to minister to people and to use the books and films as ministry tools.
Usually when you reach forty you think you know who you are but God is good for the wow. It turns out that my early desire for the entertainment industry was actually part of a divine direction. So now instead of making my own plans now I just follow His.

My start was a process and is still continuing. I found a love for music after being surrounded by talent within my family right here in Macon, GA. My grandfather, Percy Welch, inspired me the most – the same as my dad, Sonny Spoon. I remember being young and using cassette tapes to record songs with my cousins and we’d go to share the music with my grandfather who’d cuss us out for playing that “rap music”. But it was like honey to my ears. I began to dig deep and find my flow and let creativity take its course. Music has been instilled into my soul because I’ve been chosen to tell my story and let others listen to how I feel things through my personal experiences. Each day I find myself thinking of new ways to reach others with my music and to let my voice and character be heard. I want to make an impact and to become a household name.

I started rapping in college you know smoking weed with home boys and free styling, but I was really good and my friends encouraged it so I dropped out my freshman year and haven’t looked back since. It took me about a year and a half to hone my skills on my own at home in my grandma’s basement. Ironically it was her death in the latter half of 2013 that propelled me into the local open mic scene in Macon,Ga.

I’ve always been a creator. I feel like I’ve always had an imagination so when it comes to creating content it comes natural. When I got my first camera I was transitioning from sports and at a point in time where I’m expelled from college and a felon I had to ask myself what did I really want to do with my life?

To be honest I didn’t have much of a plan. I was a junior in college at the time and if it wasn’t for me being undeclared I probably wouldn’t learn that I had a very particular interest in business that I have never really known about. I knew YouTube had a monetization program that I’ve been familiar with and once I finally got my hands on a camera I began creating.

I basically bought a bunch of new equipment and assets and learned how to use all of it. I’m the type of person where I like to be under pressure and a challenge so learning how to operate all of my equipment and learning , the interview process , learning how to edit , and so forth built a particular work ethic in me that can’t be taught you either want it or you don’t.

I learned quickly that being an entrepreneur is one of the greatest and empowering things that was never introduced to me before in my life so ever since I started I haven’t look back.
