My story begins with the sounds of West African drumming and the movement of a dancer (my mother) that fed these rhythms and movements into me all the way til birth. I was born into a family that supports the arts and housed educators, so naturally I began my paths journey as I arrived. My mother, being an artist, introduced my siblings and I to several styles of drumming and dancing, this led me to my first instrument, djembe, which I began playing at the age of 2. In grade school I participated in the symphonic and marching band which furthered my knowledge and interest in music. My mother is a performer so everywhere she went I was there, backstage, in the audience, late night rehearsals, on stage and all. I was the little boy with the big head whose drum was too big for my body lol. Although I was studying west African percussion, my experience here in America will never be dismissed, so Hip Hop, Jazz, Rock, Blues and such was quite the influence on a daily; the best of both worlds. The sounds in all of this music led me on a journey to want to know what they were in order to create my own compositions. During my middle school years I began exploring other instruments as well as being introduced to using digital audio workstations and all types of studio gear. More and more I became obsessed with creating and expressing my own voice, studying and becoming a musician, music producer, and musical artist, and now here we are.

I love personal shopping and wardobe styling. It’s a gift I’ve had since highschool. I’ve always had a mind and style of my own. I love prints and classic style. I am not trendy, so I live to create beautiful unique pieces and / or personal shop for one of kind items

I remember back in high school I would scour the Internet for new songs and unique songs to add to my library. My iPod had so many songs on it and in College I would go through and listen to as many as I could. I initially wanted to DJ before making music, but thought that it was too hard or that I couldn’t do it. Then I saw someone at my college doing it and thought “I can do that.” That person I saw quit DJing the next year and sold me his board. I then started to DJ some with my friends and did a couple weddings. Later on in college I started to become curious about how thses songs I was Djing were made and realized that these big artists made a lot of their own songs so if I wanted to get to that level, I should do that too. I started out making EDM initially but around last year (2019) I became focused on rap beats because I am more passionate about that genre right now and I have a lot of fun making beats. I also love the collaborative aspect of making beats, when I was making EDM I was working by myself most of the time.

While enrolled in college, I literally lost everything I had except for my car and clothes. At the time, I was studying Information Technology with a focus on Digital Media. I hopped from place to place, not willing to give up on what God told me to do. One day I began to admire the nature around me – the flowers, the birds, the sky and the sounds. That day I had about $400 in my account. I knew I had to make something shake, so I went to the pawnshop and bought a $150 camera. That very day I began capturing the things around me. I eventually got good enough that I began to charge. I called that business “Tangela Hurley’s Photography & Digital Media”. Being that my education granted me the knowledge to create in different arenas, I eventually added logos, graphics, and T-shirts to my business. Today my business is called Unique Visions, where my mission is to assist in making visions into realities.

I am constantly striving everyday to be better than the person I was yesterday.
If you know me then you should already know that I am a very analytical person.
This comes with its advantages and disadvantages. I don’t strive for perfection, but I pay attention to detail. I’m a watcher I observe people. I enjoy it. I watch people move about their day, how they eat their foods, play with their children, pronounce words, how they dress, how they interact with other people and most importantly how they love. Watching other people helps me gather insight about the world and people that are around me. I am careful about the things that I do and say. I want to be remembered as a person who loved, a woman who believed, and most importantly as a person who gave. Giving to me is more than physical its the way you treat other people and the way you love.
My purpose in this life is to be the best me that I can possibly be and I’m passing that down to my boys as well. I’ve always heard…”be the change you wish to see”.

Today, I have about 3,500 women who follow me on my social media pages and I host events that are geared towards WOMEN and I am an encourager of self love.
