Buzz Interviews Max Bergstrom of Avenue Army

I am a songwriter, composer, and musician in the band Avenue Army. My mother told me that I was always keeping rhythm and tapping my hands and feet to the beat of the music, even as an infant. Besides banging on pots and pans as a toddler and running around signing and playing a toy guitar in my early childhood, I began playing violin and saxophone in third grade, but neither one of them lasted. My mother bought me an electric guitar for my ninth birthday, and I began teaching myself to play right away. I wrote my first complete original song when I was eleven and began forming my own bands at that time as well, doing performances as school dances and talent shows.

All throughout Jr. High, High School, and College I played in local bands and wrote songs, but my life took a bit of a detour from music in my early twenties as I developed a crippling addiction to alcohol and drugs. In 2009 I formed the band Avenue Army in Saint Paul, MN, but we did not get serious until 2013, which is when I finally got sober.

Since then, we have toured nationally, moved from the midwest to the west coast, released one full-length album and several EPs, we have been nominated for a San Diego Music Award for our album “Holding Steady”, and our music, mindset, drive, and work ethic has never been stronger.

I was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. In 1983, I graduated from the University of Detroit with a BS in Chemistry and in 1987, graduated from St. Louis University School of Medicine. I moved to Atlanta in 1987 for residency at Emory University School of Medicine and fell in love with the South.

Painting and creating have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Being entirely self-taught, my journey to the present has had glories, bumps, pauses and lengthy stalls. In the early ‘90s, I read Betty Edward’s Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain and was astonished by my right brain. I’d lived in my left-brain for so many years I had no idea my creativity was seeking expression.

My speciality is Emergency Medicine and life as an Emergency Medicine Physician is difficult and exciting, filled with joy and despair and it is the impact of these extreme contradictions dramatically impact my artistic approach.

I’m originally from Suffolk, Virginia and graduated from Virginia State University in 2012 with a Bachelor’s in Marketing. While choosing a major I wanted something that wasn’t so constrained, something you could take with you no matter what, and a wise man once said “no matter what industry you’re in, you’re always in sales”. With a firm understanding of basic advertising and marketing principles I figured I could be successful no matter what industry I chose to pursue. That was my logical, business minded side.

But I always had a passion for the arts, specifically music. I marched in my high school and college marching bands (I play the trumpet and can read sheet music) and you can ask anyone that’s close to me, I’m ALWAYS singing and rapping. Having been raised in a two parent, middle class home (at the time) I thought no one would take me seriously as a music artist until Kanye West hit the scene and proved you could make enjoyable music while not constraining yourself to any one topic. Once I saw it could be done, I became obsessed.

I moved to Los Angeles in 2014 and for the first two years I kind of was just running around, learning about my new home, getting acclimated …until one day I finally sat down, took a USB microphone and connected it to my old MacBook Pro and started to record freestyle records over other more established artists’ beats. I released them on SoundCloud and a good friend of mine, who is a singer, heard them and then introduced me to his engineer. From there, I practically lived in the studio and recorded whenever I could. I’d even come and sit in on other people’s sessions just to learn how to conduct myself in a studio environment and get some inspiration. And I’ve been at it ever since.

Performing, entertaining and most importantly standing up for others has been vital to me since I can remember.

Starting from a very young age of being a successful competitive figure skater, to later on reaching out through acting on stage and I front of the camera to eventually building a platform where I could share all my knowledge, experiences, tips and tricks, fashion, beauty & lifestyle tips I gained over the past 20 years.along the way.
And that’s where All At Once was born. A destination for all the things I’ve been very passionate about.

Fast forward to 2020 – hard work and perseverance throughout has brought me to where I am today. I’ve been able to turn my passion into my own business that inspires people from all over the world.

Buzz Interviews Amber Graham of Creatively Tailored

My name is Amber Graham. I am the youngest of six. I grew up in Detroit, MI. After my mom passed my moms best friend took all six of my mothers children to raise when she had none of her own. Although I didn’t have the most expensive or most trendy outfits growing up I was always pushed to express my creativity. I would cut up old sheets and make them into pajamas sewing the fabric by hand. I’d take my sister’s hand me downs bleach, cut, or tie them to create something of my own. I’d sketch my designs in my journal and write a beautiful poem that related to how I was feeling and what inspired the design. This was my therapy to help cope with the emotions of losing a parent at a young age but it quickly turned into passion. Once my family noticed I wasn’t just a phase my Aunt (moms best friend) bought me a sewing machine. And so Creatively Tailored began. My Aunt thought it was best for me to move out of the city and that Houston presented better opportunities for me. So my junior year in high school I moved to Houston and attended Chavez High School. While in High I had to support my passion for fashion. What better way than to get a part time job at a clothing store styling clients? I would go to school and go to work after. Sleep was time wasted from me learning more, doing more, and growing more. My late brother & biggest supporter, Edwin Graham, made sure I took a step back to enjoy the life I was working so hard for.

On my birthday in 2013 I got to speak with him not knowing it would be my last. He told me how proud he was of me. How much he admired my ambition, passion, and the ability to juggle being a new mom and now manager of the clothing store I worked for and going to college. He made me promise that I would never stop being me and doing what I love. He told me to never stop smiling and being silly. To this day I have yet to break that promise. Some days are harder than others in the fashion industry but with patience and hard work your dreams will become your reality. I now am a Store Manager for TJX companies. I still never stop finding ways to perfect my craft as a fashion stylist and host events to sow into others dreams. I post inspirational and encouraging videos to help others go after what makes their heart smile as fashion makes mine. If my past has taught me anything it’s to invest in what you believe in and accept nothing mediocre. In all things give everything or nothing. And do all things with your heart. Creatively Tailored has successfully hosted several events such as vision board parties, fashion shows, and done charity work to give back to the community such as school supply drives and wardrobe makeovers for less fortunate families. I’ll never forget where I’ve come from, but I sure make love where God is taking me. My book “A Soul Loved” will be out November 2020 and I’m going to make it to New York fashion week as a fashion stylist one day!

My musical journey started early in my life. I was surrounded by music because of my father. A phenomenal blues rock guitar player with great taste in music. From church band to weekend gigs, my first job was a roadie. With no gigs on the weekend, Saturday’s he would crank up the record player and shred on his Fender American Strat.

At age 14, I finally picked up a six string SG. I tested my father’s patience while teaching me basic open chords, strum patterns, and few of his favorite tunes. It clicked finally after daily practice and quickly became second nature.

During the summer, I would visit family in California. My cousin picked up playing guitar a few years before and we would jam for hours. He introduced me to heavier genres and I was hooked.

Throughout high school, my passion for music grew while I stayed busy with baseball and wrestling. After practice, it was straight to guitar, guitar hero or watch fuse or MTV. Eventually, I joined guitar club and built enough confidence to perform at my local HS church band.

Once my senior year rolled around, I created my first garage band with some friends called “A Crown Affair”. It felt awesome to win our first talent show with our first single. We took that motivation and began to play in venues and explore the music scene.

In college, I was hungry to learn more about music business, theory and audio engineer. I joined metal bands “Fight For Glory” “My Only Virtue” “We the Collectors” through my early 20s. I gained experience from these projects and strong relationships. We released EPs and full-length albums with outstanding producers and engineers. These projects applied marketing and advertising tactics, social media coverage and engagement. All while consistently putting out content and practicing every chance we got.

In 2017, my father and I talked about making a family project. We would jam regularly and record material. Our relationship grew stronger as each song was created. Each new song became our favorite until we knew there was enough material to do a full-length album.

Now 2020 is here, MØØNLITE PERSUASIØN will drop the first single “PACFIC CØAST” in early 2020 from our debut self titled album. Expect full release in fall 2020.
