Meet Brandi of Shweety’s
Shweety’s began in 2019. It was conceived out of necessity and nurtured into being through the nations current enthusiasm for plants. I have worked outdoors in the plant realm for the better part of the last decade as a greenskeeper, nursery attendant, grower, and entrepreneur. I’ve traveled all over the US and Central America focusing on visiting gardens, landscapes, and places of food production. I’ve volunteered at permaculture farms and in community gardens, growing what I could wherever I could. My personal collection over the years has grown from a few plants to hundreds. All of this co-exists with the fact that my husband and I move frequently, between every 3,6,9, or 12 months. I needed a job where my passion for growing and spreading the plant love could go with me and so, Shweety’s was born. Shweety’s began as a succulent and cactus selling page on Instagram. Today I sell a variety of plants from rare collectible hoyas to aroids to euphorbia. It is my belief that houseplants are the gateway drug to a more sustainable home. Not only do we become aware of caring for living things, we begin to seek out opportunities to grow. It’s my hope that through the sale of my plants that people can find their calling and can build their confidence into growing their own food.
Getting to the point where Shweety’s began was a struggle. It took me years to understand that I could build my own business, that I didn’t have to prescribe to the traditional sense of a job, especially because I wasn’t living a traditional life. A life on the road, of constant moving and relocating is one I’ve always wanted, but to find a way to thrive within that structure as a gardener and grower was surely a struggle. Once I made the decision to take matters into my own hands, my business excelled in ways I could have only dreamed!
I source and sell plants of all varieties. I’m most sought after for rare and unusual hoyas, collectible plants and hard to find varieties of houseplants. I sell these plants almost exclusively online and ship with mostly recycled materials. I am different from your average seller because my variety is wide and far reaching. I began in Houston- a place that should be more celebrated for its tropical climate. The number of plants that thrive here are astounding. As someone who travels often, I am able to source plants from a variety of places such as Tucson, San Diego, Florida, etc. This is what sets Shweety’s apart.
Success, for me, looks like happy returning customers, a fulfilling work day, and enough plant material to expand my own personal collection. For me it has never been about expanding into a giant, I want to keep the Shweety’s experience as personal and kind as possible. In order to maintain my level of customer service, it’s integral for me to keep a wide variety with limited stock. I want collectors to be happy with what they are receiving and to do so means attention to quality over quantity.
