Meet Brooke Locklin of Pics By Brookie
Christmas 2014, I unboxed my new Nikon Coolpix. Little did I know I was holding my future job! I took pictures of everything around me, eventually discovering Adobe Lightroom. Through process of trial and error, I discovered what I thought looked good. I really got interested in photographing people, so using my sister as a model I posted picture after picture on social media. Eventually people started asking me to take pictures of them, which led to senior portraits, then to couples, then to weddings.
I’ve definitely had some struggles along the way. People always doubt your ability being so young. Sometimes when you have a lot of people doubting your success, it weighs you down and you begin to doubt yourself. I’ve had my share of self doubt! Luckily I have a super strong support system now. 🙂
My growing business is not my main source of income right now, but I hope one day it will be! I’m currently studying business marketing at Arizona State, and I have big dreams of working for Adobe or a magazine! I have such a passion for photography and I know one day I’ll get to do what I love. Currently, I am most proud of being featured in Voyage Phoenix Magazine and sticking to my dream.
To me personally, I define success as feeling accomplished internally. There will always be someone out there that is better than you, but as long as you’re happy with what you’ve done, that’s all that matters. I may not have the biggest following or the best equipment, but I know one day all my hard work is going to pay off!
