Meet Candice Lewis of Moon Baby Show
I became a New Mom in 2011 and I noticed that I had to use Google as my primary source of information when I had questions about my pregnancy and about childbirth. For a few years, I would travel the US going baby expos looking for information and resources and I noticed that there was not enough people in the room that looked like me, a black women. There wasn’t a diverse group of women in the room gathering the information that they could benefit from on their pregnancy journey. That’s when I came up with the idea
It has been a challenging road trying to work with baby companies to let them know that they haven’t been doing the best job of including other groups of people in their marketing efforts to let them know that their product or service can help an expecting mom that isn’t part of their typical demographic. Although it has been challenging it has been rewarding growing our community of parents and getting them access to resources and products that they need from our network of baby experts.
Moon Baby Show is a resource hub and event company that travels nationwide to various cities connecting new and expecting parents to baby products and connecting them to local services in their community that can help them on their journey through parenthood. I always like to tell people why I called it Moon Baby Show. Moon Baby represents the 9 moon cycles and relates to a women being pregnant for 9 months and Moon Baby Show is there with you every step of the way connecting you to the information you need most.
I am the heart of Moon Baby Show and my primary job is to find all the baby experts worldwide and make sure my parents have access to them so they are supported on their journey. I like to think that we are like a new parents ” Training Manual”
I define success by passion. I believe that that in order to be successful in anything you have to have a passion for it ; it needs to wake you up and doesn’t require anyone else to help you. Recently, I had to take a break from working on Moon Baby Show because I’m pretty sure I got burnt out planning and executing our recent virtual event but I took a few weeks to recalibrate and I remembered why I started Moon Baby Show and how it’s success can help millions of other new and expecting parents. So, in a sense my success in Moon Baby Show plays an important part in making sure I am doing my best in protecting the birth stories of the Mommas in my Moon Baby Family.
