Meet EBAUGH
I’ve always played in local musical acts since I was 16 and one of my recent groups I was in after a performance one audience member came up to me and said “wow you’re a free jazz player!” And at that time I had no idea what free jazz or what most jazz really was and then shortly after I went home and dove deep into what free jazz is and what jazz is to me, shortly after at 2 am I woke up from a dream and it all came to me something telling me I have to start a free jazz band and that is when I came up with the idea for “EBAUGH”
No, haha. It never was for me, whether it was the self doubt and the non acceptance of my previous peers I had always questioned why and what I was doing, but luckily I was truly saved by the new people in my life who became the core members of the band (Jarrett Wolfegang Schmidt, Orion Good, Jeremy Torres) Not only that but I was going through many family changes to me and life was moving too fast. However I felt a certain connection with everyone and we all knew we were kinda on to something.
We play jazz! We all love to improvise and express ourselves. Till this day we always say “okay we’re starting on F# at a slow tempo” and we just play. We kinda are known for how intense of a live band we can be most of the time and I love to keep it like that haha. What I’m most proud of is that we are able to connect together and play and enjoy ourselves the other stuff is cool but not a priority.
Personally I just see it as if we are still connecting and playing good jazz we are successful. If I can make and produce our albums and enjoy what I’m listening to In my head we are successful.
