Meet Marquis Parks of KREATIVE KLOTHING
When I went to school for Graphic Design, I was being taught how to work for a company or at a desk. Doing work for people, not for myself. After graduating, I attempted to do some freelancing work – working for others and designing the products they were looking for. While I was able to give them what they wanted, I was not fulfilling my dream or having complete passion for what I was doing. I had a repertoire of illustrations and drawings in my notebook that I had not used. I spoke to a friend and showed them the portfolio that I’d been building and they advised that I use my work and put it on clothing – essentially, start my own clothing line. I decided to follow their advice and worked hard to put everything together, ultimately leading to me having my own clothing and fashion show in February 2019 which was successful and began the progression and expansion of Kreative Klothing.
It has not been a smooth road for me. Some struggles along the way include: finding money to make my product, spending time away from my family to create, finding companies/manufacturers to work with, learning the process of making my own clothing, finding people to work with, networking, and building myself in a new city.
I have a clothing line, Kreative Klothing. This consists of a collection of different brands that I have created. It ranges from graphic illustrations, typography, and Plug Lifestyle to the crowd favorite – the MACEN brand. Kreative Klothing is an all inclusive brand built for everyone to promote diversity, Kreative expression, and individuality.
As a company, we are most proud of being creatively diverse and bringing everyone together – being a brand that is made for everyone, no matter their background. That’s what the brand is built on.
I believe that having a collection of different brands within the clothing line sets us apart from others by not having a specific target audience. We are also set apart from others by our ability to build connections with everyone we work with.
I, personally, define success as being globally known. I want my brands to be in every country and in all aspects of fashion. From the high end – being the MACEN brand, all the way down to casual – something as simple as the typography brand.
