Meet Odalys Quevedo of Art Spark Design
I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, which influences what I do right now, but doesn’t really relate with what I do for a living.
I learned almost everything I know about my current career in an unlikely way: by blogging. In 2016, when my daughter started daycare, I hadn’t worked for four years and needed something to occupy my time. So I asked my husband (a web master) to set up a website for me, and I started writing under a pen name – E. L. Lane.
After about six months of blogging, I joined the South Florida Bloggers, and later, the South Florida Mom Bloggers. I started making connections with people in the blogging community, and learning professional skills, at their monthly meetups. I kept attending meetups and learning and growing. Last year, I became the “Social Media Manager and Editor” for the South Florida Mom Bloggers, and continue to run their social media and write recaps of the meetups.
At the beginning of 2019, I made my mind up to somehow make money from blogging, and worked hard to sell my services as a copywriter. Later, I realized that being a blogger had taught me to create a personal brand, so I started offering the service of refining the look, language, and feel of a brand.
At the end of 2019, I decided to join forces with my husband, Luis Quevedo, and we now run Art Spark Design together, he as the Web Master, and I as the Director of Branding and Social Media. I have worked on creating branded content for social media and various websites. And together, we create websites, and branded images and written content, for small businesses.
Nothing worth doing is easy.
The biggest hurdle to overcome was finding the time to work as a stay-at-home mother.
After my husband and I figured out a schedule that worked for everyone, then the next hurdle was finding the clients to fill my working hours. Luckily, I have made some great connections with other female entrepreneurs at networking events that have resulted in a steady flow of clients since the end of 2019 to now.
I find that there will always be some struggle to overcome, but seeking the right community for that moment in your life will soon help you overcome any struggle.
Art Spark Design is a one-stop shop for creating an online presence for your business. The combined experience of Luis and myself make us the perfect team to help you create a look, language, and presence for your business online.
We have helped several clients start their online businesses from scratch by working with them to choose a color palette for their brand, design a logo, and then incorporate that into the look and feel of their website.
Luis does all of the graphic design and web development, while I work with the client to refine the colors and look of their brand and logo, and develop the content and language for the website that will carry throughout the business cards, social media, and promotional materials.
We save our customers the trouble of having to go to a graphic designer for one thing, then a web designer somewhere else, then hire a copywriter for the content, then find someone to set up and manage the social media accounts. Luis and I do everything in-house with individualized attention and top notch customer service.
Together, we ignite your business for online success.
I feel like I’ve already succeeded.
I work hard doing what I love, and I help other entrepreneurs do the same.
I suppose my definition of success is when you can go to work, and it doesn’t feel like work, because you’re doing what you love for a living.
