Meet Risa Auger of Happy Healthy Meals
You could say my fit life started when I was three at the ballet studio. Training, learning and performing into high school gave me a foundation of dedication — until it ran out. But, when I DID go back after getting married and having my beautiful little girl, I went full force.
Maybe a little too much. Gym life, the stress from work, overtraining and undereating put me in a strange fitness holding pattern. I wasn’t sure where to go from there or how to get out of the plateau. I did know that I needed to do something though. I lowered my calorie intake so far to try to force progress, I actually started hurting my metabolism, killing my digestive system and gaining weight.
This started a passion for learning about the healing power of food, for encouraging balanced workouts and taking rest days. Today, I am sharing this passion with a podcast, a facebook page and a set of articles on LinkedIn.
The road has been a true journey. Some things worked. Some made my digestive situation worse. There have been injuries and sleepless nights. And not just because of a crying baby girl!
The thing about a journey though is that you just keep going. You keep learning and experimenting. You build on your wins and learn from your mistakes. You make new goals and then share in the hopes of inspiring others.
Happy Healthy Meals is a vehicle I use to share my Happy Healthy Life formula: movement, healthy eating, rest, and positive thinking. I came up with this after getting certified to lead folks through an intuitive eating plan that lets you teach you about you through a journal process.
To share what I have learned, I publish a podcast on iTunes and YouTube, host an open discussion style Facebook group and I also host a private accountability group.
I’m most proud of my clients when I get texts about them trying new veggies, feeling amazing, or crazy sore and seeing them reach new goals as they work through their commitments to themselves.
My theory is based on balance, not extremes. I coach with love and a little booty kicking when needed.
I define success when the 30-day challenge “diet” becomes a client’s meal plan that they follow on a regular basis. When a client can freely have a treat meal without feeling guilty or overthinking it. Success is when you surprise your self because you are stronger than you thought you were!
And the ultimate success for me is when a client says, I want to help other people too! That’s. Like. The. Absolute. BEST!
