Meet Troy Cook of Palapalooza Podcast
I started Palapalooza Podcast in October 2018. We feature a different local musician, producer, engineer or personality every week with an interview and an unplugged acoustic performance. Palapalooza is recorded under a “palapa” or tiki hut in my backyard in El Cajon and is solely audio based. To date, we have released 89 episodes and have featured a few national bands including Unwritten Law, Sprung Monkey, and The Schizophonics as well as many incredible local bands.
Starting a podcast has certainly been a learning process. Like learning any new subject, I have asked a lot of questions and consulted with podcasters that are much better and experienced than me (shout out to The Tone Jerks Podcast, The Dusty Futon, and Adam Sisco for their knowledge throughout the past 18 months). I feel like the audio quality on Palapalooza has come a long way since episode one, and I have learned to be a little more comfortable on the mic, and certain ways to make the guest more comfortable as well. I definitely feel that this podcast has more potential, and I am excited to see what the future brings.
Success to me is setting goals and achieving them. Overcoming not unknown obstacles in life leads to success and happiness in my opinion.
