Meet Velo of Locs Of Art
How did I start doing art? Honestly, at a very young age. I used to draw when I was a very little girl and was taught by my grandmother. I was also singing at very young age. Every time I would take a photo as a little girl, I was always posing like I was a model. All these artistic traits carried on withe as I got older. With a lot of hard work and dedication I was able to start making a name for myself. I started as coming out as a singer/songwriter, then moved into modeling and now I’m a full time artist. It’s a blessing to be able to wake up everyday and do the things I love.
Becoming a full time artist hasn’t been the easiest thing to do. I had to learn to market myself, build my social media following and build clients on my own. Starting in a community without really having buyers or supporters right away can be a bit discouraging but it’s worth everything you put into it.
My business is called Locs Of Art. We honestly do a bit of everything. We’re mostly known for our paintings but we also are known for all our other talents we have. What sets up apart from others is how many things we can do, how many styles of art we can create and how we are not only a business but a couple as well. What I am most proud of as a company is how fast we grew and how we managed to get our art in all 50 states in 8 months of opening up.
How do I define success? I don’t think it matters how many following you have but how much support you have. How much your art can speak to people, getting your art all around the world and being able to give back. Once we have our shop in an official location, and are able to achieve all the goals we set for our location, then I can say we are truly successful.
